Room in Roof Insulation

Help keep your upstair dormer rooms

cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Dormer & Room in Roof Insulation

  • Reduce the temperature in Summer

A poorly insulated Roof In Roof becomes very warm in the sunny summer months. If your rooms are getting too hot in summer we can improve this by insulating your walls, slopes and ceiling.

  • Keep warm in Winter

In Winter a poorly insulated Room in Roof quickly looses any heat and can be very cold. This is a result of heat being lost through the walls, slopes and ceilings. All these areas can be insulated to keep the heat in your home.

  • Reduce your energy bills

Insulating your home means less energy is used trying to heat it resulting in lower energy bills and warmer rooms.

  • Reduce condensation

When warm air from showers and people breathing comes into contact with a cold surface it can cause condensation. Condensation can lead to mould growth and can damage the roof timbers. We can reduce the risk of condensation by insulating your walls, slopes and ceiling and,if suitable, we can install a vapour membrane and downlighter caps.

  • A better nights sleep

Insulation can reduce pollutants and pollen entering your home by filtering the air passing through the voids. Insulation reduces noise from outside sources entering your home. Better control of your room temperature will reduce temperature fluctuations throughout the night. These factors can all contribute to a more restful nights sleep.

Make your home warmer & reduce heating bills

If you have rooms upstairs with sloping ceilings and/or dormer windows or skylights then you most likely have what is referred to as a Room in Roof construction.

Until the last 20 years builders have completely neglected or poorly insulated Room in Roof properties during construction. This results in these rooms being too warm in the summer and freezing cold in winter.

The good news in we have insulated thousands of properties with Room in Roofs and we can help.

Often there is already access for our fitters to access the various areas which need insulation, but we can make and close off access if needed. Some customers opt to have hatches or doors installed to give permanent access to the previously closed off spaces. We can install flooring to create additional storage space.

The first step would be to contact us and organise a free survey to see what we can do for your home.

Installing Room in Roof Insulation

There are various areas which cause heat loss in a Room in Roof.

There may or may not be a hatch to access the apex, but we can create one if needed, from there we can add extra insulation above the ceiling, essentially the same as Loft Insulation.

We can usually access the slopes from the residual loft space behind the walls and / or the apex. It may be possible to slide a rigid insulation board into the space to sit behind the plasterboard or we can look at alternative solutions.

We can access the residual loft space behind the walls where we can insulate the back of the walls. From here we can also add insulation to the deck to help keep the heat in the rooms below.
